Overview

This 27" IPS monitor from LG is a very basic yet affordable option for anyone wanting a larger sized 1080p display without the sacrifice on image quality that often comes with most of the cheaper 27" TN monitors. You will not find many bells and whistles on this monitor, just a solid 27" AH-IPS panel that won't break the bank.

Ergonomics

Not much to speak of. The 27EA33V's stand is a very simple design that doesn't offer height adjustment or the ability to pivot. It does, however, tilt from -5 degrees to +20 degrees.

Input Options

Despite a very low price the 27EA33V doesn't suffer from a lack of connectivity. It has one each of VGA, HDMI and DVI as well as a 3.5mm heaphone jack.

Warranty

Comes with a 1 year manufacturer warranty on both parts and labor.

Pricing

The 27EA33V can be found for well under $300. Not too bad for a 27" monitor with good color accuracy and wide viewing angles typically found with AH-IPS panels.

+ Positives

  • The 27EA33V features a AH-IPS panel, so viewing angles are wide with no off angle viewing issues.
  • Price. Large 27" IPS based monitor for about the same cost of a much smaller display.
  • Physical appearance is very pleasing. It won't win any design awards, but the 27EA33V has very good aesthetics and a small enough bezel that blends in well with multiple monitor setups.
  • Very little backlight bleed is apparent to the naked eye and clouding isn't and issue.
  • Decent enough response time and little input lag will be good enough for most gamers, but hardcore should look elsewhere (for example, the FS2333 IPS gaming display).

- Negatives

  • Matte AG coating is a bit aggressive, unlike many new IPS monitors, which leads to a somewhat fuzzy or dirty screen appearance.
  • Max brightness is relatively low compared to most modern LCD monitors.
  • Underwhelming stand. Has no swivel, height adjust or pivot functionality.
  • Not many bells or whistles, just a very basic monitor (has to be for an IPS display that sells for as low as $230).
