  • It is a SHAME that Amazon.com would sell an item like this.

  • Review: Amazon should not be selling an item like this. This drives conveniently fail right when the window to return them to Amazon closes, and you need to send them to Seagate who will just send you back the same 5900 rpm junk (even worst because Seagate turns around and sends you a refurbished one not a new one which is what you paid for) leaving you without a choice to change for a regular 7200rpm one. What is strange is that I have dealt with Seagate drives almost exclusively when I build PCs and this are the first drives that have let me down completely. Seagate drives usually carry a 5 year warranty, but this drives carry only a three year warranty so even Seagate does not have much confidence in this 5900 rpm drives. I can say for sure that I would not recommend this drive to anyone. Do not make the mistake I made of trusting the company reputation!Seagate Barracuda LP 2 TB 5900RPM SATA 3 GB/s 32 MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Hard Drive ST32000542AS-Bare Drive

  • Review: I bought three of these drives. One for a Netgear EVA 1950 and two for a ReadyNAS Duo. The drives run cool and are 100% compatible with both units. I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

  • Review: I've had three of these drives for about 4 months now. I've been beating them up pretty hard with a lot of disk access. They're performing as expected. I consistently saw greater than 90MB/sec speeds when writing to them from a regular SATA interface. I've just moved them to an Areca 1210 card in a RAID5 configuration. I still see 80+MB/sec writing to them, even with them being in the RAID5 config. The card pretty much erases any noticeable overheard usually seen when writing to a RAID5 array.

These drives replaced a pair of Western Digital 'green' drives. Those crapped out within a week of use.

I've got quite a few other Seagate drives in use and have been pretty pleased with their performance and reliability.

  • Review: Ordered six of these 2TB drives by Seagate for Netgear Pro Pioneer. Despite mixed reviews on this model, this was one of few supported 2TB drives by Netgear. For price and 2TB drive, I decided to take a chance. The unit has been up for a week without any click of death as some users experienced. No complaints about drive noise because the Pro Pioneer fan which is super loud blocks it out. Personally I prefer Western Digital hard drives however for $109 for 2TB I couldn't pass it up more importantly tho the Seagate hard drive was also supported by Netgear.
