  • Excellent MOBO

  • Review: This board was awesome, I chose it because it had good reviews and it was a brand name that I had some success with in the past. ASUS did an excellent job on this, one of the best things I thought was awesome was the Memory switch/light. If the memory was not compatable you can hit the switch and it will try to configure it, the light will blink if there is a problem. I slapped 12 gig in there with out an issue...I am very pleased.
Only thing I wish they would have added to the specifications that I didn't even think of to check on was that it has no IDE connections to the board...they are all SATA which is great technology wise but it slowed my build down a little getting DVD replacement drives.

  • Great somewhat future proof board

  • Review: Well this board is pretty much amazing. It has the LGA 1366 socket, 6 DDR 3 RAM slots with option to run in Tri Channel mode, USB 3.0, SATA 6 GB per second. Mine booted up with 6 GB of memory first time and has been going strong ever since. I went from a Core 2 Duo to an I7 930 and it is so much faster when loading pretty much anything. If building a new system would highly recommend!!

    My Build:
    Antec Nine Hundred Two Case
    XFX Black 750W Power Supply
    ASUS P6x58D (This Board)
    Intel I7-930
    Western Digital VelociRaptor 150GB
Mushkin Enhanced Blackline Frostbyte 6 GB
    EVGA Nvidia GTX 470 (Fermi)
    Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit

  • Futureproof!

  • Review: I went all out on my first computer build. Especially on this mobo. I did not want to buy a new a new mobo anytime soon as I am still a student. This mobo did it with it's SATA 6.0 and USB 3.0. All of the other features are just pure beauty. All those high quality Japanese capacitors, wow!
    I currently have a core i7 920 (2.6 ghz), HD 5770, 6 gigs ddr3 at 1600 mhz.
As perfectly futureproof this motherboard is, the biggest concern I have is the lack many PCI ports, the most full SLI/Crossfire is 2x... It's still great though.

  • Excellent Motherboard - Need More USB

  • Review: This motherboard would be perfect with more USB connectivity. As it is, it is near perfect. I found the connectivity arrangements simple and some of the packaged utilities useful. I did notice that one of the utilities that came with the board does not recognize my graphics card (HD 5970), even though ASUS makes such a card. Presumably, this will be remedied with an update. I have found that the ASUS Update BIOS update utility is very effective and simple to use.

Note that two of the USB ports are 3.0 and between that and the SATA 6 offerings, I believe most hardcore builders and enthusiasts should be satisfied.

  • Excellent Foundation for a Well Balanced System

  • Review: I bought this board for my first do-it-yourself build in many years, and wasn't disappointed.

It certainly isn't the cheapest board out there, and for good reason in my opinion.

Besides individual advantages like support for the faster USB and SATA, the board is just all-around well designed.

The board is engineered to efficiently distribute heat - and I was amazed at just how well it does this, as I observed the lukewarm temperatures of my Northbridge, for example.

Other built in perks include built in Reset, button to force memory compatibility, and the ability to get online without booting to the OS!

Also, included utilities give pros and hobbyists alike the access they need to tweak.
